The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, originated from commemorating the death of Qu Yuan, a ancient Chinese statesman and poet, who drowned himself in the river to protest corruption. It is celebrated annually on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, with dragon boat races, zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and other traditional activities.
