The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu, has its origins in ancient China. It commemorates the poet Qu Yuan, who drowned himself in the Miluo River in protest against corruption. The festival involves dragon boat races, eating zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and hanging mugwort leaves and calamus to ward off evil spirits.
