Title: What I Did on Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is one of the most important traditional festivals in China. This year, I had the chance to celebrate this festival with my family and experience its rich culture.
On the morning of the festival, we woke up early and prepared a traditional breakfast. We ate zongzi, which are sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves. They were delicious and filled with different fillings like red bean, lotus seed, and meat.
After breakfast, we dressed up in festive attire and went to the river to watch the dragon boat races. The races were thrilling and exciting. The teams paddled with great effort, and the drums beat rhythmically to encourage them. The atmosphere was full of excitement and enthusiasm.
As part of the celebration, we also made a dragon boat. My family and I painted and decorated a dragon boat with colorful patterns and hung red lanterns on it. This was a fun activity that allowed us to learn more about the origin of the festival.
In the afternoon, we honored the dragon king, who is believed to protect people from diseases. We offered food, drinks, and incense at the riverbank. We also performed traditional dances and played music to show our respect for the dragon king.
The Dragon Boat Festival is not only about fun and excitement; it also reminds us of the heroic story of Qu Yuan, a famous poet and statesman from the Warring States period. Qu Yuan drowned himself in the river because of his disappointment in the corruption of his country. The people who loved him raced in boats to save him, but it was too late. Since then, the Dragon Boat Festival has been celebrated to remember his sacrifice and his love for his country.
Overall, celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival with my family was a wonderful experience. It allowed me to learn more about the customs and traditions of my culture, and I felt proud to be a part of this beautiful festival.
