The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday that falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. The origin of this festival is shrouded in legends.

One popular story is about the Moon Goddess, Chang'e. According to the tale, her husband, Hou Yi, won an elixir of immortality from the heavenly god, but Chang'e swallowed it by accident and became a moon spirit. To celebrate, people gather to enjoy mooncakes, lanterns, and gaze at the full moon in the sky.
